RE: Ford V10 Engine trouble
I had a mechanic stop by and listen to it today. He thinks it is the starter, not disengaging after the engine starts. That would be a fairly easy fix. He plans to com back tomorrow and work on it.

Thanks again for all the replies.
I do use the 5w20 and the engine sat for just slightly over 1 month. I will check this weekend for a blown spark plug.

RE: Ford V10 Engine trouble
To answer the questions:
The engine starts and runs. I bravely or stupidly drove it up and down the driveway (`200 ft.). The noise is very loud, I can't describe it beause it's nothing I've ever heard before. Strangely, the noise changes very little with rpm. I'm really looking at where to start the trouble shooting. I've looked under the hood and didn't see or hear any thing obvious. I haven't pulled off the engine cover, that may be the next step.
Thanks for all your replies,

Ford V10 Engine trouble
We tried to go on a trip over the weekend. When I started the engine it made a horrific noise. Any idea what the trouble would be?
Background: it is a 1999 Ford V10 with about 40,000 miles. It sits alot, but we made a 400 mile trip about 1 month ago with no issues.
Thanks,
Jon T
